Our Resolven facility has been offering apprenticeships for 15 years, and together with Mollart Chessington, we have dedicated a lot of time creating apprenticeship programmes that incorporate modern precision engineering techniques and skills. The result is a new generation of engineers defined by their exceptional calibre and a level of skill that is simply unmatched in the industry.
Mollart Resolven offers apprenticeships to local young people from the Neath and surrounding areas, and is proud to support the development of precision engineering in South Wales. Resolven is a modern facility, and our apprenticeship programmes ensure new developments are included in the modules trainees follow. Therefore, all our apprentices are fully skilled in the very latest technologies and production techniques that reflect our specialised subcontract services which includes:
Our apprenticeships offer different pathways depending on individual interests. However, all of our training provides structured learning programmes designed to consolidate experience and theoretical knowledge. To further bridge the gap between theory and practice, we have nurtured close relationships with top-tier local training providers.
Two of our apprentices at Resolven, Iestyn and Summer, highlight the different pathways our trainees take. Iestyn is our newest apprentice and is in his first year with Mollart Engineering Resolven. Whilst studying a Diploma in Engineering at College, Iestyn came to visit us for a week’s work experience and found his passion - he wanted to focus more on CNC machining. Since he started with us in September, he has developed many new skills, including setting and tooling applications, learning about different tools for different applications, along with other skills that will lead onto the next step, which is programming.
Summer is currently in her third and final year of a welding apprenticeship programme. She has acquired skills in many aspects of welding including MMA, Mig and Tig process, welding of carbon steels, aluminium, stainless steel, and other exotic materials.
Summer has also gained experience in the manufacture of precision welded assemblies, many of which are both pressure tested and helium leak checked using a mass spectrometer. These parts and assemblies are for supply to the Semi-Conductor Industry. Along with welding, she has been completing modules in:
To ensure we obtain the best results from our apprentices, those chosen for our training like Iestyn and Summer will demonstrate enthusiasm, dedication and the ability to complete the course successfully. By maintaining high entry standards, we ensure that every apprentice in our facility is fully committed to achieving top results. In return, we provide outstanding support, state-of-the-art facilities and the chance to train with a world leader in deep hole drilling and precision machining.
By training the engineers of the future, we aren't just filling roles - we are sustaining a legacy of British engineering excellence. That is why so much time, effort, and thought goes into our apprenticeship scheme.
