New Machining Capacity At Mollart Engineering's Resolven Subcontract Facility

MOLLART ENGINEERING’S SUBCONTRACT PRECISION MACHINING FACILITY IN RESOLVEN, NEATH, SOUTH WALES, RECENTLY TOOK DELIVERY OF A NEW YAMAZAKI MAZAK VTC800 VERTICAL MACHINING CENTRE, AS PART OF ITS CONTINUED EXPANSION AND GROWTH.

 

This new machine adds additional capacity to the site, in order to bolster its offering to the market and having been fully installed, is now running 24 hours a day as part of the operations double shift system.

The VTC800 is highly versatile, with 3 meters of X-axis and 800 mm Y-axis travel. The swivelling head provides B-axis movement for reduced set-up times and the Rotary Table allowing full simultaneous 5-axis machining of complex features and contours, for further enhanced productivity.

  • Saddle (longitudinal) X-axis - 3,000 mm

  • Column (cross) Y-axis - 800 mm

  • Spindle head (vertical travel) Z-axis - 720 mm

  • Spindle speed maximum (standard) - 18,000 min

  • Feed Rates - Rapid traverse (X-axis)/(Y-axis)/(Z-axis) - 50 m/min

  • Tool storage capacity – 48 tools

 

The new investment was made in response to the continued increase in demand associated with our services to the semiconductor sector, although the machine has wide applications for customers in every industry that Mollart Engineering currently serve. 

This additional machine adds a further world-class machine to the portfolio of machining capabilities at our South Wales facility, taking its Subcontract Precision Machining offering to new heights.
