Automotive Transmission Shafts
Using Omnisprint 4 and 6-spindle knee-type gundrilling machines, Mollart provides high speed drilling of oil holes in transmission shafts for the automotive industry.
Utilising the 3-axis movements of the Omnisprint machine, hydraulic fixtures to locate the parts and gundrills supplied by Botek, Mollart were able to drill a series of offset holes to varying depths in the end of the shafts. The customer was originally considering a need for 12 machines but the Mollart solution reduced this to three offering not only a reduction in capital expenditure but also a need for less floor space.
- Gundrilling 3 x 6 mm holes on 11 mm pitch circle to different depths, at 4 per load. Mollart solution with 200 m/min penetration enabled customer to reduce original budget of 12 machines to just 3.
